Subject: Fwd: FYI-suspicious activity
Dear all-
Last evening (Tuesday the 10th) at about 7 pm a gentleman was going door to door stating he was from Columbia Gas (no ID, was not driving a Columbia Gas truck). He was asking when people would be home today (Wednesday 11th) because he stated "we are shutting off the gas in the area and need to be let in so we can relight the pilot lights".
I was on my way to the store when he stopped me, I did call Columbus Police to let them know –they said they would send a cruiser to our neighborhood.
I called Columbia gas this morning to let them know about the situation. They took a report so they could alert the legitimate dispatchers in our area to be aware this individual was misrepresenting himself as a Columbia Gas representative.
He was mid 30’s, 5"10 about 150 lbs. black man driving a Silver Chrysler 3000.
I wanted our neighbors to be aware.
Per Columbia Gas they do give written notification prior to any work/shut off etc. and can be called at any time to check on a "representative". Columbia Gas: 800.344.4077
Be safe.
Sincerely,
(member information removed by TBW to protect their identity)
